 VCI GOLD is a
service that we now offer to our customers to enhance the speed of Web
Surfing. We have personally timed the web page loading speed at 5-8
times faster than a 50k connection. Downloading of videos, files,
software, etc will not be affected. Web pages and email will load
faster. Pictures and graphics on the page will be of a lesser quality.
This is done on our servers and presented to the customer through
software installed onto their computer. The software will be downloaded
from our website. IF someone has trouble downloading the software, a
copy of the software can be provided (mailed or picked up), but this is
only if they have a problem downloading it.
Specifics
- Beginning Monday 8/18/03, we will be running an ad on the radio
introducing this new service. The ad will state that customers can try
this new service for free. We will offer a two (2) day free trial to
current customers who want to try it out. The customer must contact us
within those 2 days if they want to keep the VCI GOLD service, or it
will automatically be terminated after two days. We will give a full
48 hours for them to try it out.
- We will charge an additional $3/month to their normal billing
plan. ($17.95/ credit card billing, $20.95/ regular monthly billing,
$54/ 3 months, $108/6 months, and $191.40/1 year)
- Customers who have WebWatch filtering can NOT use this service. If
they want VCI GOLD, they must cancel the filtering on their account!
- It takes approximately 10 minutes to download the software.
Installation Instructions
After the software has been installed and saved to the computer,
double click on the icon. This will bring up an installer program. A
username and password will need to be entered. The customer will enter
their current VCI username and password. Once the software is installed
it will run automatically. An icon of a computer screen will appear on
the system tray in the lower right corner of the computer screen. Click
on the icon to start/stop the service or change the settings. Anytime
settings are changed, the service should be stopped and restarted. In
the settings window, the sidescroll button can be moved to
increase/decrease picture quality. The lower the picture quality the
faster the speed. After settings have been changed, stop and restart the
service. After a page has loaded, there is an option to reload
individual images at full quality. Right click on the image, in the menu
click on "Show Original Image". This should reload that picture in full
quality. An upgrade will be coming out somewhere around the end of the
month. It will have some added features: popup blocker and email
compression. Once we perform this upgrade the customer software will ask
to upgrade at the next login. They will need to click yes or ok to
perform the upgrade.
